Open Question: Smart Phone with a prepaid plan?
My friend got a new AT&T cell phone and he has a older windows mobile cell phone he is willing to sell to me for $35.00

I currently have no cell phone, but have a old prepaid GoPhone from AT&T. Is it possible for me just to switch the sim cards and use the new Windows Mobile Smart Phone as a GoPhone instead?

If not, what are my other options? I know Boost Mobile uses sim cards and even has a $60.00 unlimited talk, text and web service, could I use this AT&T Windows Mobile Smart Phone with Boost Mobile by switching out the sim cards?

I know a lot of cell phone providers want a 2 year contract when you buy a new phone, since I’d already have one, would it be possible for me to just start a new service through AT&T, would they still want a deposit on the account?

Any thoughts, ideas or experiences are helpful.

Open Question: Should I say something to my mother about this or not?
I am sorry but I am going to have to give a brief synopsis of my life in order for you all to understand. I am 16 years old and I have a brother who is 17.

My parents divorced when I was an infant but I would visit my dad every summer. My mother has custody over me.

So ever since I can remember my mother has had financial problems. I can remember in second grade we never had a bed, couch, or any type of furniture. We liked in Oklahoma during this time. I remember when we would have to bring school supplies and certain material for school projects not having them. I would tell my mom I needed these things and she would say she couldn’t afford them. Overtime, my mom’s church donated us a bed set and other things. I remember when my grandparents would send us money(to me and my brother) and they would call and confirm to see if we received them and my mom would take this money that was gifts for us.

My mother is a certified nurse but she is somewhat lazy. When she had a job she rarely worked. And every job she has had she has been laid off or fired.

Well, we ended up moving from Oklahoma to Mississippi. All of the goods we had in Oklahoma (bed room sets..ect) were put in storage. We went back to sleeping on floors.going hungry …ect. In oklahoma we had a car but it ended up getting repossessed. We got another car but it ended up getting repossessed and another car that ended up being repossessed.

We got evicted from the house in Mississippi and we ended up moving to Illinois. We moved in with my grandparents for a short period of time and then we ended up going to a run down one bed room aparement that was absolutely terrible. We stayed in that house for a year and ended upbeing evicted from there. We moved again…This new house was so big… it had three bed rooms and for the first time in my life I got a room of my own. But we stayed in this house for a year before being evicted. When we got evicted from this house me and my brother were so fed up. We both called our mother horrible names telling her she should get a job…and that she is lazy and so forth. Well we just moved into the house we are in now and we were in it for like 7 months. Well I was going through the mail and it turns out we have an eviction pending. We are supposed to be out by September fourth. I was reading through my mom’s journal and basically she was praying to god for money….It’s pissing me off…and I am so angry…

I mean I have never had an ipod, cell phone, cable tv, nice clothes.computer(I am typing from the library).and other things that kids enjoy these days… I have never lived in a stable environment .

I am so tired of moving. Just when I get used to a neighborhood we moved. Should I complain, curse, scream at my mother or just move on to the next house? It’s like a never ending cycle. I was going through my mom’s jornal where she makes prayers to god and it’s like my mom’s mindset/priorities are so messed up…

She wants to buy a mercendes bendz when we are on welfare and when I told her just to get a used car she got mad.

she was praying to god that she can come up with 5000$ so she can pay in back rent AND be able to buy another house.

I mean none of these things are practical at all. I could go live with my dad but my mom is hellbent on making me stay with her.

Also, any time my dad or grandparents give ME money my mom takes it.

And not only are we behind on the house bill but on electricity,gas..ect

I have lived several months without any electricity, hot water..ect

I AM SO TIRED of living like this. Tell me should I scream, curse, at my mom or just be cool ?

Open Question: What does poverty mean in America?
I hear on the news of how people cannot buy school supplies for their kids or how we have food box shortages. if this country offers programs such as WIC, food stamps, housing, free used clothing, and job placement, how is it that people complain that they have nothing and cannot afford anything. the majority of people have vehicles, cell phones, and internet, why are they not happy?

also about how we complain about the rough economy, people had to stop going to the theatres and rent red box instead while people across seas pray that theyre car or apartment building doesnt get blown up!
